(What Does The Bible Teach About Preachers?)

Part 26: Christ Cannot Be Divided: There Is Only One Church (1 Corinthians 1: 12-13, 17)

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. Thanks be to God our Father for allowing us to see another day. Father we are grateful for your son our Savior Christ Jesus and for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We are also grateful for the will to write as a gift from God. We will never be able to adequately describe the Joy it brings.

Peace and Love, Carl Patton a willing slave of Almighty God writing for the FreedomJournal 13 June 2006 in the year of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

In the name of God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth

Brethren as the reformation failed many church buildings came upon the land. They continue to come, however there is only one church. This is the church prophesied by the Great Prophets, resurrected by the Savior and further established by the Apostles.

In the 1st Division of First Corinthians Paul warns the Church at Corinth about divisions in the church. What lessons can we learn from Paul's warnings to the Corinthians today?

1 Corinthians 1: 12-13. "Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ." (Also see John 1: 42; Acts 18: 24 and 1 Corinthians 3: 4).

"Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?" (Also see Acts 2: 38 and Ephesians 4:5).

The people of Corinth were losing sight as to who/what is the church. The Church is Christ Jesus, not a certain Preacher. Therefore if we keep God first and stay in prayer we will never look to man before God.

Meanwhile today many people follow very popular Preachers. The contests continues as to who is a better Preacher etc. Although these people claim the faith they go lacking as to being fixed on Jesus as the head of the Church.

1 Corinthians 1: 17. "For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect."

Often those weak in the faith corrupt the part of this scripture that has reference to baptism. Paul is not downplaying the importance baptism. However see Acts 19: 1-5; Romans 6: 3-4; Galatians 3: 27 and Colossians 2: 12 to clearly see what Paul teaches about baptism.

Meanwhile Paul reveals that he has been given the gift of Preaching. This required more than physical strength. Thus Preaching the Gospel of Christ was most important for him as others could carryout the task of baptizing the believers.

About the Author

Are there women in the church today that advocate for women's liberation? If so we remind them that all women that accept Jesus Christ are already Liberated. However, the worldly dress code of women is a product of the world. This worldly outlook has also caused some women to think that alternative life-styles are acceptable in God's house. (For the record women do not have an exclusive lock on Sodom and Gomorrah).
